A bike that can take on snow, slush and other foul conditions isn't new. But the same bike that can do all that plus conquer summer singletrack is an eye-opener.

Salsa's Bucksaw XO1 takes everything they learned with fatbikes -which is plenty- and adds a very effective full-suspension platform. The rear suspension is a clever Split Pivot design that takes advantage of the rear hub's axle as a flexible joint. Split Pivot ensures that the dynamics of hard braking won't affect the rear suspension's performance. Descending a technical trail shouldn't be hair-raising, as is often the case when there's a hard turn at the bottom! Adding this suspension geometry to a butted and shaped 6066 aluminum alloy frame makes the Bucksaw a very capable off-road platform, no matter the season.

Keeping the Bucksaw's tires on the ground (Or snow. Or mud.) is the job of an air-adjustable RockShox Bluto fork and an air-adjustable RockShox Monarch RT3 shock. With 100mm of travel front and rear, the improvement in control is astounding. The Bucksaw's 3.8"-wide Surly Nate tires provide traction and comfort, but true control is provided by a bike's ability to respond to changing surfaces and terrain. With air-adjustability, the RockShox suspension fork and rear shock of the Bucksaw can be adapted for heavier or lighter riders as well as challenging surfaces and trail conditions. Looking to do a winter fatbike race? The Bucksaw will handle messy, snowy conditions with aplomb. How about a 3-hour off-road race in July? The Bucksaw will help keep the rubber side down!

The Bucksaw XO1 boasts SRAM's 11-speed XO1 rear shifter and derailleur for gear change duty. The 30T SRAM X1 single-ring 30T crankset and 10-42T SRAM cassette bring a massive gearing range to the party for roller-coaster trails and snow-covered singletrack. 65mm-wide Surly Marge Lite alloy wheels are wrapped with 26x3.8" Surly Nate tires, bringing bags of traction to any terrain and surface. A set of SRAM Guide RS hydraulic disc brakes help reign in speed, and use DOT fluid for high performance in all temperatures. A RockShox Reverb dropper post helps get the saddle out of the way with the aid of a bar-mounted remote lever. A comfy WTB Pure V Race saddle, Thompson X4 stem and Salsa Rustler handlebar complete this all-season machine.
