Any triathlon gives you a shot at being your best on race day. In some cases, you can beat your competition out of transition or finish strong on the run. In many cases, the bike course is a make-or-break element of the race. Make the bike leg the best part of your next triathlon with Liv's new Avow Advanced.

Nearly all triathlons are "no drafting" events, and the rider must slice through the wind by themselves. The position the rider takes on the bike is helpful, but the bike itself can also yield significant energy savings that pay off during the run. Triathlon bicycles make every mile easier, and can even boost an athlete into PR territory. When the Avow Advanced was conceived, it would go through an exhaustive process from start to finish. The engineers at Liv/Giant developed the Avow Advanced to be not only very aerodynamic, but also comfortable, mechanically reliable, and even affordable.

Giant starts with their own raw Advanced-grade composite carbon fiber material, eliminating quality control issues and costly leftovers that comes from outsourcing. When the raw carbon fiber sheeting is placed into the molds, different layering is used in different places -referred to as a "layup schedule"- to improve ride quality as well as frame strength. The frame shape itself is honed from wind-tunnel data and Computational Fluid Dynamic (or CFD) software, giving the Avow Advanced a slippery shape through the wind. Small details can make a huge difference when battling the wind, like internal cable routing, an aero Composite seatpost and hidden Speed Control brake calipers.

The Avow Advanced is equipped with 11-speed Shimano bar-end shifters that operate a Shimano Ultegra rear derailleur and Shimano 105 front derailleur. This component combination ensures fingertip operation and long service life. An FSA Trimax 50/34T compact crankset and Shimano 105 11-28T cassette boasts a wide gearing range for roller-coaster courses. Giant equipped the Avow Advanced with a Vision Trimax base bar and multi-adjustable armrests and aero bar extensions. The Avow's base bar/aero bar combination makes the bike fit process much easier and making traveling less of a headache during reassembly far from home. The aero Composite seatpost is topped with an ISM tri-specific saddle and waterbottle cage adapter.

The wheelset on a triathlon bicycle can make a big time difference, and the Avow Advanced comes equipped with some showstoppers. A set of Giant's own deep-section PA-2 Aero wheels are shod with 700x25c Race 1 tires for a smooth ride and confident grip in the corners. Even the bladed spokes are laced to the rims to be as slippery as possible.

Triathlons can go by pretty fast, but this bike can help you do more than just keep up.
