If you're new to unpaved riding, you'll need a bike that thrives in a wide range of environments. From gravel to mud to lawn and grass, the Crockett 5 can handle plenty of diverse terrain.

Although the Crockett 5 does well in cyclocross racing (its "day job"), it excels in adventure riding, gravel events and even rainy commutes. Every one of those disciplines requires a lightweight chassis, and the Crockett 5 starts with a hydroformed 300 Series Alpha aluminum frame. Boasting light weight and excellent torsional strength, the Crockett's frame helps put the power down during every pedal stroke. A flattened top tube makes the bike easy to grasp for "suitcasing " over barriers and more comfortable to shoulder on long run-ups or ascending staircases. The E2 tapered head tube adds handling precision on twisty race courses and potholed gravel surfaces. A BB86.5 bottom bracket anchors the crankset for lightning-quick pedaling response. With Trek's new Control Freak internal cable routing, the Crockett looks sleek and runs quietly with no housing rattle. An adjustable 3S chain keeper all but eliminates dropped chains, spoiled races and greasy fingers.

The real upgrade of the new Crockett 5 are the Stranglehold adjustable thru-axle rear dropouts. With 15mm of fore-aft adjustment, the wheelbase and tire clearance can be altered for a wide range of tires and handling preferences. Want to convert to single-speed? The Crockett makes chain tensioning a snap! Up to a 33mm tire can be installed on the Crockett 5 for gravel adventures. Up front, a fully carbon fiber IsoSpeed fork can soak up boatloads of vibration, while a 12mm thru-axle improves handling on twisty courses further.

SRAM's 11-speed Rival levers operate a SRAM Rival 1 rear derailleur on the Crockett 5, adding a mechanically precise and durable feel with every gear change. The SRAM Rival 1 crankset features a single 40T X-Sync chainring for simplicity and reliability on dirty or muddy days. Out back, a SRAM 11-32T cassette adds a wide gearing range for challenging courses and long days in the saddle. Tubeless-ready alloy Bontrager wheels are wrapped with 700x32c CX3 Team Issue tires, adding easy acceleration and confident grip on dirt, grass and gravel. Tektro's Spyre cable-operated disc brakes ensure consistant stopping power, rain or shine. A Bontrager Montrose Comp saddle, alloy seatpost, accessory-ready alloy Elite stem and alloy Race handlebars complete this outstanding multi-purpose bicycle.
