The Moots Routt 45 is handbuilt in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. They'll let you drop in and visit the factory, too!

Moots has been in the bike business since 1981, first building with steel and now exclusively in US-made titanium. With titanium's legandary durability, ride quality and performance, any Moots bicycle will be yours for a lifetime. The Moots Routt 45 is built with butted seamless 3/2.5 titanium, keeping weight surprisingly low while ensuring durability for decades to come. The finish of our showroom bike is bead-blasted, with etched "graphics" and a stunning metal head badge. Optional finishes include multi-colored themes, polishes, panels and graphics. Check out their website at for more details. Just be sure to wipe the drool off your keyboard.

The Routt 45 allows the use of 28-45mm tires, allowing the rider to add the right tires for the job, be it commuting across town, attacking a gravel double century, or simply enjoying a weekly group ride. Different tires will alter the ride quality, but the Routt 45's titanium frame has been precisely tuned for a smooth feel and springy character no matter the rubber. An oversized 44mm head tube anchors the carbon fiber fork with a Chris King InSet I7 headset, ensuring incredible durability and handling precision. The bottom bracket is a classic threaded version on our in-stock bike, but a press-fit BB30 unit is optional. The shifter cables and rear hydraulic hose are externally routed, while the front hose runs inside the left fork leg. Internal rear brake hose routing is also an option. The rear 12mm thru-axle dropout features Moots' own "hooded dropout", allowing the use of massive rear chainstays. Those rigid chainstays give the Routt 45 instant pedaling response when attacking steep ascents, or just trying to beat a red light. Up front, a lightweight all-carbon fiber fork features flat-mount disc brake caliper installation and a tapered head tube.

Our in-stock Routt 45 example is equipped with Shimano's latest 11-speed Ultegra components, bringing precise operation, light weight and long service life. If you haven't looked at Shimano's Ultegra components recently, there are several upgrades to be found:

  • Adjustable-reach dual-control levers boast a redesigned lever hood for more comfort and grip
  • The 50/34T HollowTech 2 compact crankset is more rigid for better power transfer and more aerodynamic profile
  • The Shadow-style rear derailleur takes its cues from mountain bike components, and can shift smoothly under greater pedaling loads
  • The long-cage rear derailleur can shift up to a 34T large cog
  • The cage on the front derailleur has a redesigned "tail" that clears wide tires on short-chainstay bikes
  • A toggle-pivot front derailleur design now has a cable tension adjuster on the body of the derailleur, eliminating the need for in-line adjuster barrels
  • Flat-mount disc brake calipers improve pad-to-rotor engagement for better lever feedback
  • IceTech Freeza rotors are built with 3-layer construction, dispersing heat better during repeated hard braking

All those improvements allows the rider to focus on the road ahead. Ultegra durability makes perfect sense on a gravel/adventure bicycle, making the Routt 45 a bike you can trust when exploring uncharted territory.

Bontrager supplies the tubeless-ready carbon fiber wheelset. The Aeolus Pro 3 Disc wheels boast stacked spoke lacing, improving lateral stiffness for better overall handling. the 35mm rim sports a refined D3 (Dual Directional Design) blunt-nosed profile, allowing the bike to better resist crosswinds. 12mm thru-axle installation improves lateral stiffness further. Bontrager also brings a set of 700x40c GR1 Team Issue tubeless-ready tires to the party. The 120tpi casing is incredibly supple, improving comfort while reducing rolling resistance.

Moots didn't just stop with the frame. They included a handmade titanium Cinch Post seatpost on the Routt 45, adding an extra layer of buttery smoothness to the ride quality. Topping that post is a Fizik Gobi XM saddle with a Twin Flex shell and Microtex cover. Up front, an accessory-ready alloy Bontrager Blendr stem and alloy road handlebar complete this gravel-chewing beauty.

Moots offers plenty of frame finishes, graphics options, in-house components, drivetrain and wheelset options. Machinery Row Bicycles can help make your dream gravel machine come true. Please call for details!
