Giant has been in the off-road game from the beginning. Their first off-road bicycle was the Iguana, and you can find examples still running since the 90's. The Stance is their current entry-level bike for when the trails demand full suspension. The main frame is built with their own lightweight ALUXX-grade hydroformed aluminum tubing. Lightness is good in this department, but frame strength allows the suspension to work well and the whole bike to respond when attacking challenging terrain. Giant uses their FlexPoint rear suspension geometry on the Stance models, adding a simple yet effective system that helps keep the rear wheel planted. An air-adjustable Suntour Raidon R rear shock allows the rider to tweak the suspension when tackling technical trails. Up front, an air-adjustable Suntour Axon 32 suspension fork helps keep the Stance 2 where you point it. Both front and rear suspension boasts 120mm of travel.

Small details make a big difference in mountain bikes, and the Stance 2 has plenty. The head tube is a tapered OverDrive unit, giving the bike sharper handling and more responsive braking. Thru-axle hub installation with Boost spacing reduces frame and wheel flex, offering a more planted feel when cornering. Internal cable routing keeps the Stance looking clean and sleek, too.

Shimano supplies the shifters and derailleurs, with a Deore Shadow-style rear derailleur, Alivio front derailleur and Alivio 9-speed shifters. A Praxis Cadet 36/22T alloy crankset does power delivery duties, while a Shimano 11-36T cassette adds a huge gearing range to the Stance 2 when faced with roller-coaster trails. Rolling stock consists of tubeless-ready alloy Giant AM 27.5 wheels and massive 27.5x2.6" tires. A mix of tubeless-ready Maxxis Rekon (front) and Ardent Race (rear) tires ensures control where needed and traction at all times. Braking duties are covered by Shimano hydraulic disc brakes, adding excellent stopping power and lever feedback in all conditions, rain or shine (or mud). A Contact Switch dropper seatpost is operated with a bar-mounted remote lever, getting the Contact saddle out of the way during precipitous descents. An alloy Connect stem and alloy Connect Trail handlebar completes this amazing value in off-road mountain biking.
