The quest for Ironman-winning machinery ends here! Felt's IA series of aero bikes have already won countless events, including the 2018 Ironman in Kona. This version now sports SRAM's disc brakes for superior stopping power in all conditions. When given the choice, every Felt triathlete at Kona 2018 chose to ride the disc brake version of the IA. The final result? Daniela Ryf set a new course record for women and beat the men's record bike split time from 1993. Not a bad debut...

The previous version of the IA series changed how triathletes looked at their bikes almost overnight. It was aero, light and surprisingly comfortable. This new disc-equipped version made critical updates to improve performance in many ways:

  • The fork is an all-new design that allows the front disc caliper to perform better
  • The rear triangle is also redesigned to handle braking stress at the flat-mount brake caliper
  • 12mm thru-axles are used for improved torsional strength in the frameset and ensuring perfect disc brake alignment
  • A new one-piece stem cover boasts a Garmin mount for improved cockpit packaging

The IA2 Disc was already an outstanding triathlon bicycle, featuring incredibly low drag thanks to Computational Fluid Dynamic testing and wind tunnel refinement. The frame of this updated version is constructed of Felt's own UHC Advanced + TexTreme carbon fiber, allowing the engineers to use very little resin when building the frame. Lower weight, improved quality control and better durability are all part of the latest carbon fiber "recipe" used by Felt. Internal brake cable routing, flat-mount disc brakes and integrated storage help make the IA2 Disc a sleek package when slicing through the air. The redesigned fork also uses the same UHC Advanced + TexTreme carbon fiber, keeping the bike's total weight very low. 12mm thru-axles enhance torsional strength at both ends, all but eliminating power-robbing flex.

SRAM has been quietly raising the bar with lightweight road components tested at the professional level. SRAM's 11-speed RED eTap H.R.D. (Hydraulic Road Disc) components feature wireless electronic shifting and hydraulic disc brakes. Aero-bar mounted SRAM eTap Clic buttons make shifting a breeze when tucked in and hammering. Blip buttons mounted on the base bar allow for shifting while out of the saddle while keeping the brake levers close at hand. All buttons are connected to the BlipBox wireless juction box mounted on the stem just under the aero pads. The wires between the BlipBox, Blips and Clics are the only wired elements of the 11-speed eTap Red component group. SRAM's RED eTap front and rear derailleur each have a swappable battery mounted on the back of the unit. Each charge gives you about 600 miles of riding. A Quarq Prime Carbon crankset boasts 52/36T chainrings and is ready to take a Quarq DZero Power Meter Spider (sold separately). An 11-28T SRAM cassette brings a wide gearing range for challenging courses and training rides. The RED H.R.D. levers and RED hydraulic disc brakes offer excellent stopping power and confident control in all conditions, wet or dry.

Zipp supplies the tubeless-ready alloy 30 Course disc clincher wheelset, bringing a brilliant race day and training day wheelset to the IA2 Disc. The hubs have centerlock brake disc installation, and each are laced with 28 bladed spokes. Vittoria Rubino Pro G+ 700x25c tires are fitted for a smooth ride and low rolling resistance.

A fully UHC Advanced carbon fiber "blade-style" seatpost is topped with an ISM PS1.0 saddle; perfect for aggressive fits and long courses. The aero bars and Devox Dagger UHC Ultimate base bar are easily adjusted for different fits and rider proportions. The 3-position S-bend aero extensions allow for a just-right aero fit.

A SRAM RED eTap charger, top tube storage box and IA BTSpac rear storage box is included with the purchase of this bicycle.
