Quick Overview

A proven all-mountain platform to make every ride a thrill!

Color: Matte Black

Sizes: 17.5"

Say what you want about Wisconsin having "tame" trails. It doesn't take long before you're in over your head on a stair-step descent and your XC hardtail isn't going where you point it. This is where the Remedy comes in handy!

The Trek Remedy 8 27.5  isn't a downhill-wannabe machine, or a full-suspension XC bike. It lands squarely in the all-mountain category with the ability to do Enduro races on the side. Rocky singletrack, root-strewn downhills and technical trails are where the Remedy 8 27.5 is truly at home. The backbone of the Remedy 8 27.5 is an Alpha Platinum aluminum frame, designed around a nimble geometry that can get out of its own way while tackling big hits along the way. A tapered E2 head tube and PF92 bottom bracket anchor a massive down tube on each end, giving the Remedy 8 a precise feel in twisty singletrack. If you're worried that the fork crown will ding that down tube on your first "unintentional shrubbery inspection", have no fear: The Knock Block headset/stem system prevents the fork from turning too far and damaging the frame. Twisted cables are a thing of the past, with Control Freak internal cable routing, too. Boost 110/148 thru-axle hub spacing helps add an extra dash of handling precision in the twisties.

The suspension is the best thing about the Remedy 8's ability to handle challenging trails. Active Braking Pivot (or ABP) geometry allows the rear wheel to move through its travel distance without being affected by hard braking forces. The rear suspension pivot is the rear wheel axle! Cool, huh? This lets the rider mash on the binders to avoid diving into the scenery without making the rear shock bind up in the process. The air-adjustable RockShox Deluxe RT3 rear shock allows the rider to tweak the Remedy 8's feel for confident control, especially when putting the power down in bumpy terrain. The rear shock is installed in a Full Floater mount that helps the rear shock avoid "Stiction", giving the shock a much more supple feel. The ultra-rigid EVO Link that holds the rear shock helps reduce lateral binding forces, making it perform smoothly in bumpy drifts. 150mm of travel helps soak up hard landings and clattering washboard trails with equal aplomb. If you want the Remedy 8 to handle a bit differently, the Mino Links at the tip of the rear seat stays can be reversed. The bike's angles can be slackened, making it even more stable for white-knuckle descents. Up front, the air-adjustable RockShox Lyric RC fork soaks up impacts with 160mm of travel.

12-speed single ring shifting is found on the Remedy 8 27.5, and SRAM's Eagle GX drivetrain makes it more affordable without giving up durability. A 12-speed Eagle GX shifter is mated to an Eagle GX rear derailleur, bringing easy operation to the party. A massive SRAM 10-50T cassette is ready for roller-coaster trails, along with a SRAM Descendant 6k Eagle crankset and a 32T X-Sync chainring.

Bontrager's tubless-ready alloy Line Comp 30 wheels boasts a 34mm rim width, giving the tires a wider footprint. The tubeless-ready Bontrager XR4 Team Issue tires add an aggressive tread pattern (along with a 27.5x2.40" size) that adds boatloads of grip on any trail. The Line Comp 30's rear hub has a 54T ratchet driver for the cassette, allowing the rider to put down power with almost no lag. Plus it sounds cool, too!

SRAM Guide R hydraulic disc brakes help reign in speed, even in wet and messy conditions. A Bontrager Drop Line dropper post helps get the cromoly-railed Evoke 2 saddle out of the way with a bar-mounted remote lever. The Bontrager Drop Line alloy handlebar and stem feature a 35mm clamp diameter, adding a better feel to the Remedy 8's handling.
