Cyclocross racing isn't just for fans of mud and cowbells. It throws every new rider a challenge that can bring a smile to your face! Meeting that challenge requires a bike that won't hold you back. A bike that is designed from the outset to be a racer, not a converted touring bike. Nimble handling is needed, as well as the ability to thrive in mud, snow, dirt and sand. Plenty went into the design of the Crockett 5 Disc, and the result is a 'cross machine that would be the envy of pro racers a little as a few years ago.

12-time U.S. national champion Katie Compton's input was instrumental in the design of Trek's Crockett cyclocross bicycles, and her experience brought a level of refinement that no other manufacturer can match. A dialed-in geometry that adds stability in sand and mud while still handling well in technical corners is just the start. The Crockett 5 Disc is built around a hydroformed 200 Series Alpha aluminum frame, ensuring light weight and incredible torsional strength. The Crockett's flattened top tube is more comfortable to shoulder during run-ups, and a tapered E2 head tube adds an extra dash of handling precision. A press-fit BB86.5 bottom bracket helps to eliminate power-robbing flex, especially during hole-shot sprints from the start line. Internal cable routing keeps the Crockett 5 Disc looking clean, and reduces cable maintenance over a messy 'cross season (or just a weekend!). An adjustable S3 chain keeper mounted on the seat tube eliminates dropped chain issues that might end your race. A carbon fiber IsoSpeed Cross fork boasts 15mm thru-axles, adding to the Crockett's handling prowess.

The component list of the Crockett 5 Disc is a testiment to 'cross racing ingenuity and durability, as well as a serious nod to performance. Shimano's 11-speed 105 dual-control levers and derailleurs deliver impressive operation, even in sloppy conditions. Adjustable-reach levers are especially useful while wearing heavy gloves, while a lighter-action Shimano 105 front derailleur requires less mid-race attention to operate. An FSA Energy Cross crankset features race-ready 36/46T chainrings, while a Shimano 105 11-28T cassette brings a wide gearing range for challenging courses. Bontrager brings an alloy tubeless-ready 700c wheelset wrapped with 32mm Bontrager CX3 Team Issue knobby tires for light weight and excellent handling. Stopping power in wet and messy conditions isn't a question with Hayes CX5 cable-operated disc brakes. A Bontrager alloy seatpost, Paradigm R saddle, accessory-ready alloy Elite Blendr stem and alloy Race VR-C handlebars finish off this race-ready machine.
