Shimano's Ultegra components have been a benchmark for performance for the racer and enthusiast alike. The Ultegra WH-6800 wheelset keeps up that reputation, featuring durability, light weight and high speed.
The Ultegra wheelset is built around Shimano's fantastic Ultegra hubset. Adjustable loose bearings instead of cartridge units allow for lower drag and longer product life. Wider hubs anchor the spokes better than previous versions, producing a laterally stiffer wheel for improved cornering. The axles are oversized A7075 aluminum alloy, improving handling and reducing weight further. Keeping up with the rest of the Ultegra component group was easy, thanks to an 11-speed freehub body. 16 bladed stainless-steel spokes in front and 20 in the rear keep drag low while putting up with rough roads and bouncing back for more.
The Ultegra wheelset's alloy rims are designed to be light and tough. No deep-section aero profiles to be found, just a 23mm tall and 20.8mm wide profile. Machined brake tracks and a rear offset spoke bed give the Ultegra wheelset a sure-footed feel. The black surface is anodised for long life, light weight and good looks. Total weight: 1670 grams
