The Keo 2 Max Blade sounds a bit scary, but there's plenty of innovation in that name.
The Blade refers to the flexible carbon fiber retention spring that replaces the heavier metal spring at the back of the pedal body. The tension spring is non-adjustable, and requires 12 newton-meters of force to release free from the pedal. The highest tension found in LOOK's adjustable Keo pedals is 15 newton-meters, so this isn't too difficult. The Keo 2 Max Blade also boasts a 3mm wider stainless steel cleat contact platform with a greater surface area for improved foot stability. The Keo 2 Max Blade still has excellent cornering clearance, thanks to cartridge needle bearings. The stack height has been lowered to only 14mm, providing a better ergonomic connection between rider and bicycle. LOOK's regular grey Keo cleats are replaced with newer Keo Grip cleats with rubber walking pads (included). They still keep 4.5 degrees of float for a familiar feel and consistant ergonomics. An 8mm allen wrench is needed for installation, as the spindles of the Keo 2 Max Blade pedals lack 15mm wrench flats.
