The trend of classy steel-framed urban bicycles has come of age. But for many choices found in bike shops, the prices have been a little hard to swallow until now. The Trek District 9 gives you all the features of a well-thought steel commuter bike at an astonishingly low price. The District 9 starts with -of course- a steel frame with a slightly taller head tube to fit a wider range of riders and flexibilities. The ride quality of steel ensures that not only are you more comfortable over bumpy roads and paths, your bike holds the road a little better. An exterior-cup threadless headset grips a steel fork with multiple eyelets for included painted-to-match fenders and the custom front basket. A Shimano Acera 9-speed shifter operates an Acera rear derailleur across an 11-32T cassette for a wide gearing range for grocery-hauling up steep hills. Tektro cable-operated disc brakes keep speed reigned in, even in rainy conditions. Alloy wheels are shod with 32mm Bontrager Hard-Case puncture-resistant tires for a smooth ride. A classic-look Bontrager saddle is paired with Bontrager grips on an upswept alloy 25mm rise handlebar. Riding in style isn’t pricey with the District 9.
