The Emonda is here! Trek’s newest line of road bikes have been refined to be lighter than ever. With less weight comes easier hills and a more responsive bicycle. The Emonda S 4 is the entry-level machine of the line, but this bike is far from ordinary.
The frame of the Emonda S 4 is constructed of Trek’s own 300-Series OCLV carbon fiber, ensuring immense strength and feathery lightness. The Emonda’s frame tubes are refined for a smooth ride as well as lightness, with size-specific tuning across all sizes. The BB86.5 bottom bracket anchors the crankset for effective power transfer, while the E2 (1-1/8"-to-1-1/2") tapered head tube gives the Emonda razor-sharp handling on fast, twisty descents. Useful touches include a 3S integrated chain keeper, and an aperture for a DuoTrap ANT+ speed/cadence sensor (sold separately). The Emonda’s carbon fiber fork is also unique to the model, with a refined ride and reduced weight as well. The H2 fit of the Emonda S 4 provides a more upright posture, allowing the bike to fit a wider range of riders.
Shimano’s 10-speed Tiagra components are found throughout the bike, including the derailleurs, dual-control levers, 50/34T compact crankset, 12-30T cassette, and even the chain. With a 34T chainring and a 30T large rear cog, the Emonda is even more effective on the steep stuff! Descending steep hills requires effective brakes, and Shimano’s dual-pivot Tiagra calipers are found front and rear. The Emonda S 4’s alloy Bontrager wheelset is wrapped with 23mm R1 tires for confident grip in fast turns. Bontrager also supplies the Paradigm 1 saddle, alloy seatpost, alloy Race VR-C handlebar and Race Lite stem.
