The steel touring bicycle has its roots in bikes of the past, and little has needed to be changed. The Co-Motion Americano is a traditional long-haul loaded tourer with a few modern updates for challenging rides.
The Co-Motion Americano is hand built from Reynolds 725 large-diameter butted cro-moly steel tubing in Eugene, Oregon with unparalleled quality control. Frame mitering, brazing, alignment, finishing and painting are all done by hand. Even the cro-moly steel fork features tapered butting in the fork blades as well as a CNC'd steerer tube. A long wheelbase and relaxed geometry make the Americano a stable machine on long descents, even while fully loaded. Braze-ons abound, including 3 water bottle mounts, front and rear rack mounts and fender mounts.
The Americano's drivetrain features Shimano dual-control levers for easy operation over many miles and years of riding. A Shimano Deore XT rear derailleur and 105 front derailleur ensures smooth operation in messy or muddy conditions. The FSA Afterburner 48/36/26T triple crankset and 11-34T cassette provide a massive gearing range for ascending long climbs while fully loaded down. The task of reigning in speed goes to the TRP Spyre disc brakes with 160mm rotors front and rear. Velocity Dyad alloy wheels feature a 36-spoke build with DT Swiss 540 hubs for solid durability. Shod with lightly treaded 35mm Schwalbe Marathon Racer tires, the Americano can take on hard-pan paths and trails as well as pavement. An FSA Omega compact handlebar and Gossamer alloy stem are matched with a Kalloy seatpost and a Selle Italia Anatomica leather saddle for a comfortable cockpit. There's even a Chris King headset for unmatched reliability.
The Co-Motion Americano can be built with a wide range of options found on the Co-Motion Bicycles web page. Fade paint schemes, generator light sets, front and rear Tubus racks, stainless steel dropouts and S&S couplers for ease of packing are only a few options. Please call for more details regarding build times.
