The Avail Advanced SL series of road racing bicycles are built with Giant’s Olympic-level frame and fork, making the Avail Advanced SL 1 a racer to be reckoned with. The Avail Advanced SL 1 uses the same frame and fork as the Avail Advanced SL 0 costing more than twice as much. The Avail Advanced SL frame and fork is built with raw T-800 carbon fiber and Giant completes the frame fabrication from beginning to end, ensuring unrivaled quality control. The frame’s top tube and seat tube structure is even hand-woven and the juncture re-heated for further weight reduction. The PowerCore press-fit bottom bracket provides an ultra-rigid anchor point, eliminating frame flex when power is delivered through the crankset. The OverDrive 2 steerer tube and head tube is a tapered 1-1/4"-to-1-1/2" unit for a frame that resists torsional stress for razor-sharp handling in fast turns and faster descents. The seat tube is mostly rectangular for better power transfer and a better anchor point for the braze-on front derailleur, The integrated seatpost -or ISP- saves 45 grams and improves vertical compliance over choppy tarmac. The aperture in the left chainstay allows a clean installation for a Ride Sense ANT+ wireless speed/cadence sensor for use with Garmin, CycleOps, or other data-collecting handlebar-mounted head unit. Internal cable routing and dual bottle mounts keep the Avail Advanced SL 1 clean and functional. The aggressive geometry also fits a wider range of female riders who have struggled to fit properly on smaller “unisex” road machines. The Avail Advanced SL 1’s professional racing pedigree makes one of the most nimble performance machines for women on the road today. The pros who ride it to victory -like Marianne Vos and Pauline Ferrand Prevot- helped refine it.
The Avail Advanced SL 1 is equipped with Shimano’s latest 11-speed Ultegra component group for fingertip operation made easier than ever. The reach-adjustable dual-control shifters, front and rear derailleurs, updated 4-arm HollowTech II 50/34T crankset, 11-28T cassette, and brake calipers were all designed to work in concert for a long service life as well as light weight. The Fizik Vesta saddle sits atop the ISP clamp with 20mm of adjustability, while an alloy Giant Contact bar and stem complete the cockpit. GIant’s own P-SL0 alloy wheels are also used, featuring bladed aero spokes, a 21mm wide rim width for better tire-to-pavement contact, and tubeless tire compatibility. Shod with 25mm P-SLR1 tires for enhanced cornering and ride quality, the Avail Advanced SL 1 is a real contender for best machine for your money when speed is all you want.
The Integrated Seat Post of the Avail Advanced SL frame does require cutting for a precise fitting, and the mechanics at Machinery Row are well-versed and well-equipped to assist you at this stage of the bike fit process.
