When the 27.5 wheel size debuted, many were skeptical. Giant decided to wring the concept out with testing, and see if 27.5 wheels make a difference. They do! When 27.5 wheels are added to the proven Anthem platform, a fantastic bike is made even better. The Anthem 27.5 3 frame is made from Giant’s own ALUXX-SL hydroformed aluminum tubing for a light yet rigid chassis. The OverDrive 2 tapered head tube and steerer tube ensures a flex-free front end, helping the rider track a faster line through rock gardens. An oversized PowerCore bottom bracket eliminates frame flex for out-of-the-saddle uphill charges. Giant’s exclusive Maestro rear suspension gives 100mm of suspension travel with the help of an air-adjustable RockShox Monarch R shock. An air-adjustable RockShox Recon Gold RL suspension fork also features 100mm of travel and a 15mm thru-axle, improving stability through technical sections.
Shimano’s 10-speed Deore RapidFire shifters, 26/38T crankset and derailleurs are built for lightning quick operation, even under hard pedaling loads. An 11-36T cassette gives a wide gearing range for roller-coaster singletrack. Giant’s own alloy 27.5 S-XC2 wheels are wrapped with Schwalbe Racing Ralph Performance 27.5x2.25” tires for quicker acceleration than 29’ers, yet still keeping better traction than 26” wheels. Shimano M395 hydraulic disc brakes reign in speed with better lever feedback than cable-operated brakes. Giant’s Connect seatpost, stem, handlebar and Contact saddle complete the “furniture” for this ground-breaking machine. Come and see what all the fuss is about!
