What a machine! The Speed Concept 7.5 has everything you need for your best bike split ever, from local sprint tri's to Ironman Kona.
Trek's Speed Concept 7.5 has gone through Computational Fluid Dynamic tests, wind tunnel tests and the critical scrutiny of triathletes the world over. The verdict is in: The Speed Concept 7.5 is a massive success! With Kammtail Virtual Foil aerodynamic technology, Trek's proprietary 500 Series OCLV carbon fiber frame and SRAM's lightning-quick shifting, the Speed Concept 7.5 cuts no corners in search of ever-higher performance. Even the reviewer at Bicycling Magazine wound up buying a Speed Concept 7.5 after testing one!
The Speed Concept 7.5 begins with Trek's exclusive 500 Series OCLV carbon fiber material. 500 Series OCLV allowed not only feather-like weight and incredible strength, but also the freedom to create a frame shape that would slice through the air like a razor blade. The Speed Concept 7.5 maintains low drag numbers even when the wind isn't directly head-on by using a frame shape known as Kammtail Virtual Foil, or KVF. First used in Le Mans sports cars in the early 70's, KVF allows an object to cut through the air cleanly while reducing unneeded weight and side profile from the object's trailing edge. Crosswinds are less likely to cause handling problems with a KVF shape, and the total frame weight is much lower. Brilliant!
Trek didn't stop there. They added features from their road bikes for superlative performance in other places. A BB90 press-fit bottom bracket anchors the crankset for flex-free power delivery, while a KVF-shaped fork hides the front brake caliper from the wind. Extensions at the bottom bracket and seat tube/top tube juncture prevent excess left-to-right turbulence and drag caused by the rider's legs. The adjustable carbon fiber aero bar and base bar are reminiscent of the front end of a Formula 1 racing car, with clean lines, hidden cables and clever integration. With threaded mounting points for a tool-carrying Draft Box, nutrition-carrying Speed Box and two bottle mounts, the Speed Concept 7.5 keeps everything tucked away for the sleekest triathlon machine ever seen.
SRAM provides the bar-end shifters, Force 22 derailleurs, 11-28T cassette, and 52/36T SRAM Quarq Power Ready crankset for effortless shifting performance and long service life. A Quarq DZero power meter (sold separately) can be added to the crankset later, allowing the Speed Concept 7.5 to help you reach your training goals that much faster. Bontrager's alloy Race wheelset is tubeless-ready, and is shod with 23mm Bontrager R3 Hard-Case Lite tires for easy acceleration and a buttery ride quality. With a carbon fiber Speed Concept KVF seatpost and Ti-railed Bontrager Hilo saddle, the Speed Concept 7.5 is ready to help you find your next bike split PR!
