Trek may have pro-level carbon fiber racing hardtails in their catalog, but they haven't forgotten that your first hardtail makes a big impression on beginner racers. The X-Caliber 7 makes a statement that Trek knows what you need when you're ready to pin on a number.
The X-Caliber's Alpha Gold aluminum frame is built to be strong as well as feather-light. Butted and hydroformed aluminum keeps weight down while torsional strength is kept high for out-of-the-saddle uphill charges. Also, a great frame and wheel fit can make all the difference for high performance. Trek's Smart Wheel Size ensures that a 27.5" wheel is used for 13.5 and 15.5" frame sizes for optimum fit as well as better handling for smaller riders. A 29" wheel works better for larger sizes, ensuring better control on technical trails. Race-ready geometry offers every rider a more nimble and confident feel.
Shimano's 9-speed Acera shifters and derailleurs make for easy fingertip operation, while a Shimano triple 40/30/22T crankset and 11-34T cassette bring a huge gearing range to the party. Bontrager AT-650 alloy wheels in 27.5" or 29" feature 32-spoke lacing for high strength, and are wrapped with Bontrager XR2 tires for confident grip in singletrack. Shimano M355 hydraulic disc brakes have better lever feedback than cable-operated models, while boasting higher stopping power. A Bontrager Evoke 1.5 saddle, Bontrageralloy handlebar, alloy Elite stem and alloy SSR seatpost complete this hardtail competition-ready machine.
