The Stache series of mountain bikes got a makeover, and can take on even more challenging terrain than ever before! Changes made to the frame, wheels, components and tires allow the Stache 9 to sail over rock gardens and root "fun houses" with even greater ease! Starting with an Alpha Platinum aluminum frame, the Stache 9 boasts impressive pedaling response and torsional strength. The clever elevated Midstay helps keep the rear tire tucked in for a more nimble feel in tight singletrack. Internal routing keeps shifter cables fresher during muddy seasons, while Trek's proven G2 frame geometry helps you through technical terrain. An innovative Stranglehold sliding thru-axle rear dropout makes hub and wheel positioning simple. The Stache 9's air-adjustable Manitou Magnum 34 Pro suspension fork brings 110mm of suspension travel up front. A thru-axle front hub skewer adds to the Stache 9's precise feel on technical trails.
SRAM's 11-speed X1 single-ring drivetrain adds to the fun. The X1 shifter, rear derailleur and 30T crankset all work in concert for lightning-quick operation and long service life. A massive 10-42T (!) SRAM cassette offers gearing for any range of terrain. Alloy SUNringle Mulefut 50mm-wide rims are laced to DT Swiss Boost110/148 hubs for outstanding durability and torsional strength. Boost 110/148 keeps the rims and tires from flexing under lateral load, adding to the Stache 9's handling quality in tight corners. 29x3.0" Bontrager Chupacabra tubeless-ready tires bring massive grip to the party for all manner of gnarly trails and terrain. Shimano Deore XT hydraulic disc brakes reign in speed. A Bontrager Evoke RXL saddle sits atop a KS eThirty Integra dropper post, while the OCLV carbon Rhythm handlebar and alloy Rhythm stem complete the cockpit of this trail-conquering machine.
Bikeradar.com recently completed a long-term test with the Stache 9 29+ and gave it four out of five stars!
