Giant's AnyRoad CoMax can take on gravel and pavement with equal ease.
Road bikes have a reputation for being nervous and unwieldy on gravel surfaces, making them less than perfect for exploring gravel paths and trails. But the AnyRoad Comax features wider 32mm SLX 2 tires and a stable geometry for attacking gravel roads, rails-to-trails and hardpack dirt. When descending on gravel, the rider needs a stable, forgiving machine. The AnyRoad CoMax has a lower bottom bracket and long wheelbase, keeping the bike manageable during rough descents, changing gravel surfaces and bumpy roads. The AnyRoad CoMax's carbon fiber frame has been engineered from the outset as a bike with comfortable ride quality as well as lightness. The AnyRoad's CoMax carbon fiber has been tuned to soak up vibration from choppy pavement, making every mile easier and smoother. Frame strength, however, didn't take a back seat. The press-fit PowerCore bottom bracket anchors the crankset for hard efforts, especially while charging uphill. The tall head tube allows a wider range of riders (and rider flexibilities) to fit comfortably.
Shimano's redesigned 11-speed 105 components are found throughout the AnyRoad CoMax, including the adjustable-reach levers, derailleurs, 50/34T compact crankset and 11-32T cassette. The front derailleur is easier than ever to operate, while the 4-arm crankset is much lighter than previous generations. A 34Tx32T easy gear makes steep climbs much easier! 32-spoke alloy PX-2 wheels are disc-specific, eliminating a heavy brake track at the rim. Wrapped with shallow-tread 32mm SLX 2 tires, the AnyRoad CoMax grips changing surfaces confidently. TRP's Spyre-C brake calipers help reign in speed, even in wet or messy conditions. A Connect Composite seatpost is topped with a comfy saddle, while the alloy road handlebars sport a set of bar-top brake levers, adding a more upright position for riding in traffic.
