When it comes down to it, a bike commuter wants dependability, simplicity and durability. A commuter bike should need as little maintenance as possible. It should also be ready to ride when the weather is domwright hostile. It also needs to be practical. Enter, the District IGH 3.
The District IGH 3 was borne from the demands of bike commuters around the world looking to ride to work or around town, even in terrible weather. The Shimano Nexus internally-geared hub is completely sealed off from the elements and does not require the chain -or belt- to be in motion to shift. 3 speeds are selected from the Shimano Nexus twist shifter on the right grip, so pre-selection of a proper gear is the easiest in the industry. Driving that hub is a toothed belt with a synthetic core that can't stretch, no matter how heavy or powerful the rider is. This propriatary belt requires no lubrication, and is tensioned with a pulley to make rear wheel removal much simpler.
The District IGH 3 is built around a lightweight steel alloy frame, giving the bike a sprightly feel and smooth ride. Mounts for a rear rack and bottle cages come standard, adding the flexibility that a bike commuter needs. Mechanical disc brakes by Tektro keep stopping distances predictable, even in wet weather. Bontrager alloy tubeless-ready wheels are shod with H2 Hard-Case Lite tires for confident flat-resistance and grip. Full-coverage fenders come standard as well. Bontrager's H1 saddle, alloy SSR seat post, Capital Urban handlebar and alloy Elite stem with Blendr accessory mounts make the District IGH 3 an effective and light urban companion.
