Riding the indoor trainer used to feel like running in a hamster wheel: Pointless, tedious and frustrating. Thankfully, there are now plenty of ways that cyclists can get motivated to actually want to ride their trainer. Well, this trainer anyway.

The CycleOps Magnus is a new way to experience indoor training and be entertained at the same time by your results. The Magnus trainer itself is built in Madison, WI for amazing quality control. A foldable metal frame and adjustable eccentric rubber feet help keep bike and rider stable during vigorous workouts. The resistance unit features a machined alloy roller that presses against the rear tire of your bicycle. Connected to that roller is an electromagnetic resistance unit that can swiftly dial the workload up or down, depending on the virtual training software being used. Riding up a 10% incline in Zwift? The Magnus can crank up the resistance to 1500 watts. The resistance unit uses PowerTap technology to determine wattage and respond instantly. The Magnus is compatible with virtual training applications like Zwift, Rouvy and TrainerRoad for plenty of ways to motive yourself.

The CycleOps Magnus comes with a classic steel rear quick-release skewer. If you need a thru-axle to get installed, CycleOps has 142x12mm or 148x12mm thru-axle adapters available. For wireless connectivity, an ANT+ or BlueGiga USB stick is sold separately. A CycleOps trainer tire, riser block and sweat guard are all recommended purchases.
