One bike. One. That's what plenty of our customers ask for. One bike to do everything well. It seems to be asking for too much. But it isn't.
The FX S 6 does lots of things well, and it does them with a surprisingly low price tag.
It does light weight really well, thanks to Trek's own 400 Series OCLV carbon fiber found throughout the frame. An astonishingly low weight for such a strong chassis makes the FX S 6 nimble and quick, especially in the hills. Adding to the lightness is an IsoSpeed decoupler found at the seat tube/top tube juncture. This pivot element allows the frame's seat tube to flex vertically while still retaining all the torsional stiffness needed for hard, out-of-the-saddle efforts. Rough roads, railway crossings and pavement transitions are no longer tooth-rattling moments of torture for those seeking a buttery ride. The shaped down tube, super-strong BB90 bottom bracket and E2 tapered head tube all work in concert to enhance torsional strength while eliminating power-robbing flex. Known as Power Transfer Construction, this set of features was debuted on racing machines made for the Spring Classics. On the FX S 6, it keeps the bike feeling quick with every pedal stroke, even when the going gets steep. The tapered steerer also adds an extra dash of precision to the bikes steering and braking, helping to make the FX S 6 a better descender and a safer bike under hard braking. Closed Convert thru-axles front and rear also add to the bike's ability to leap forward with every effort put through the pedals. The fit of the FX S 6 is more upright than many "road hybrids", allowing the bike to fit a wider range of riders and flexibilities.
The FX S 6 is useful and practical, with features like vanishing front and rear fender mounts and a Blendr acessory mount for lights or a computer at the stem. An aperture for a DuoTrap speed/cadence sensor (sold separately) is found in the left chainstay. There's even a 3S integrated chain keeper to prevent chain drops and messy fingers.
Going uphill is also something the FX S 6 can help a rider do well. With Shimano's 11-speed 105 derailleurs, 50/34T compact crankset and 11-32T cassette, the FX S 6 brings a huge gearing range to the party. Steep inclines and challenging commutes are no longer to be feared, especially with a bike that weighs less than 21 pounds! Fingertip shifting and adjustable-reach brake levers make for easy operation of the FX S 6. Lightweight alloy Bontrager wheels are Tubeless-ready, and are shod with 25mm Bontrager AW2 Hard-Case Lite tires for confident grip an easy acceleration. Shimano hydraulic disc brakes ensure effective stopping power, even in wet and sloppy conditions. A Bontrager Paradigm R saddle, carbon seatpost, IsoZone handlebar and accessory-ready Blendr stem complete this amazing do-it-all bike.
